<text>Embankments in river towns of Southeast Asia were traditionally occupied by populations who practiced fishing and grew markets gardening. Since a few years we can observe a profound change of theses activities and of the urbanization. Traditional urbanisation is replaced with urban projects of great size, even with a continuous urbanisation which transforms them in waterfronts. So we have to try to understand why water seems to become today a vector of modernity and to create a recomposition of urban centrality round waterfronts. Some new urban projects are building in Phnom Penh South with important foreign capitals. Price of the soil is increasing on the embankments while most poor people are evicted from this attractive sector of the Cambodian capital. So is this process common to others river towns in Southeast Asia such as Bangkok or Shanghai? For a long time were embankments in a neglected state because they were often insalubrious. Are they now destined to become common urban showcases for international investments?</text>

Peripheral urbanisation and rurbanisation are ambiguous notions. In the densely urbanised Nord - Pas-de-Calais region, the identification of the rural fringes with respect to the urbanised areas is often difficult. Many rural municipalities have a positive migratory balance, but the explanation of their recent spreading is not always easy. The study of the 1975-1982 definitive migrations and of the 1982 commuting shows the great complexity of the urban fringes. </text>

Since about ten years ago, Walloonia has been confronted with a new form of migration. The new migrants leave city centres to live permanently in tourist regions, situated in rural land. For a lot of them, this choice is imposed by the search for a better normal environment and a certain resocialization, it is nevertheless true that the main reasons are the possibility of home ownership and a ratio quality of live / prices of housing more attractive than which prevail in city centres. However this new form of housing presents many problems : unlawfulness to take up main home there, tourist equipment not at all adapted to a permanent residence.</text>

This evolution is observed along a period of more than a half century in the urban region of Paris. Comparison is suggested with Canadian cities and Mexico, through recent studies. <text>Fifty years of settlement change in the Lower Rhône.

The history of population of Lower Rhône is divided into two periods. The inversion of the evolution between 1945 and 1982 ensure an increase of more 60% for the whole. This growth is directly bound with local external actions that advantaged little parts of the region, where it exceeds 100 % : the hydroelectric and nuclear works in the area of Pierrelatte, Bollene, Bagnols-sur- Cèze, Marcoule and Orange, the military base of «Plateau d'Albion», the development of aeronautical activities of Istres, Salon-de-Provence and the total change of agricultural use of Northern Crau. The two greater cities remain Avignon and Nîmes but inner city in each of them increases very slowly contrary to the periphery.</text>
