                <text>This paper documents changes of permanent residential mobility within Hungary between 1985 and 1996, with a special emphasis on its regional pattern and hierarchical structure. The period prior to the change of regime in 1989 and is compared to what happened afterward. Permanent migration flows among seven regions and three settlement classes are analysed. This approach enables the study of changes over time in 'downward', 'horizontal' and 'upward' inter-settlement migration. The analysis concludes that while the post- 1989 period only witnessed a moderate decrease in the (usually low) intensity of permanent migration, it produced remarkable changes in its spatial pattern. These changes are characterized by regional déconcentration and hierarchical decentralization of residential moves. The major component of this process is the sweeping growth of suburbans around Budapest.</text>

</text>

                <text>The authors attempt to explore residents’ intermarriage behavior and its temporal-spatial pattern in Guangzhou, a southern coastal metropolis in China in last 6 decades. The metropolis has experienced large influx of migrants since the reform and opening to outside world policy was introduced. Questionnaire survey was done in December 2008. Results indicate : a) marriage frequency over distance follows the rule of distance decay ; b) average marriage distance of each decade undergoes wide V-shape trend from 1950s to 2000s ; c) strong sense of city hierarchy in intermarriage ; d) Internet increasingly becomes one of the important agents and shows the longest effective distance compared to other marriage agents ; e) county boundary and provincial boundary are the most important geographical boundaries in mating. Whether the findings demonstrate a common picture of love map of metropolis or just a unique local practice, case studies from other places in China are expected for comparison analysis. </text>

<br />

                <text><div>Leading intellectuals reimagine the city as a site of ceaseless change and motion.<br /> <br /> The metropolis is a site of endless making and unmaking. Restless Cities celebrates the ceaselessly inventive character of the metropolitan city from the nineteenth century to the present, in an original and idiosyncratic attempt to recapture its rhythms. In its explorations of phenomena like commuting, convalescing, dreaming, lodging, recycling and sickening in the city, this rich, wide-ranging book traces the patterns that have defined the individual in everyday urban life. Bringing together some of the most significant cultural writers of our time, Restless Cities is a revelatory journey into the heart of our metropolitan world.</div> &nbsp;</div> Contributors: Matthew Beaumont, Marshall Berman, Kaisa Boddy, Iain Borden, Rachel Bowlby, Gregory Dart, Geoff Dyer, Patrick Keiller, Esther Leslie, Michael Newton, Chris Petit, Michael Sayeau, Michael Sheringham, Iain Sinclair, David Trotter and Mark W. La loi vise, en effet, à réduire la conflictualité dans les transports en rendant obligatoire l'organisation d'un service minimum et en obligeant les salariés à se déclarer individuellement en grève 48h avant celle-ci.

                <text>Economic restructuring, the gender division of labour and the spatial division of employment in the Montreal Metropolitan Area.

This article explores the impact of recent socio-economic transformations on the relationships between workplaces and residences in metropolitan Montréal. Economic restructuring in major Western cities is bringing about not only a tertiarisation and increasing polarization of the workforce between upper- and lower-level jobs but also a relocation of economic activities. These tendencies are interwoven with patterns of labour market segmentation by gender, producing a spatial division of employment along gender lines within the metropolitan area. Using 1971 and 1981 census data, we draw out three sets of relations between the geographical distribution of places of residence and that of workplaces, focusing on differences between men and women in two contrasting occupational groups, professionnals and non-specialized factory workers.</text>
