<text>The study of architectural design bridges various approaches focusing on design sciences, cognitive psychology and architecturology. Architecturology aims to describe the full range of changes that appear during the design process. We are able to describe, by means of scales, the operations by which an architect gives size to the building. This modelling seems adequate when the morphological model is not adulterated during the design process (as in some projects of Jørn Utzon or Alvar Aalto). In other cases—as in some projects by Philibert de l'Orme, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Norman Foster—changes of state adulterate the very pattern of the morphological model. Such changes can no more be undertaken by scale operators. Unfolding an idea by Herbert A. Simon, it is suggested that the description of these new transformations requires another class of operators. It could be schemata, considering that this word means the prototypical actions that could be rendered by basic verbs as open, close, separate, bind, etc.</text>

<text>Caracas is one of the most dangerous cities in the world, and insecurity is among the core concerns of Venezuelans. Urban insecurity shapes the anxious meta-narrative of an urbanity in crisis. The Caracazo (uprising that caused hundreds of deaths in 1989 in Caracas) defines a critical turn in the experiencing of urban fears, at least among middle-class sectors: the myth of an inclusive-urbanity-in-a-democratic-society breaks up when traditionally excluded people burst into the formal city. Former social framing and State-society ties are undermined in a time of crisis. The growing fear of insecurity triggers off socio-spatial transformations which are actually socially and racially driven. This paper aims at politicizing fear of crime and insecurity in Caracas by "situating" it, and by underlying its performativity. As a socially-contingent category, fear can be instrumentalized in different ways. It appears that fear of crime and insecurity contributes to consolidate, more than create, urban territorialities grounded on classism and racism. The hegemonic narrative of fear is powerful - and legitimate - enough not to address root drivers of fragmenting dynamics, as a technology of control. Nevertheless, the unexpected implications that current fear of crime might bring are challenging an unequal socio-spatial order, sign of contested supremacies.</text>

But we need to put the stress on two more dimensions that could improve it. 1- Representations and discourses on risks, its management and policies, contribute to the framing of vulnerability. Timeline for risk construction is not unidirectional. Risks are a never-end becoming process. 2- Humanizing environment (therefore shaping risks) relies on the way human - environment interactions are addressed by people, institutions or even researchers. Epistemological backgrounds do matter. The territorialisation of risks can be a useful conceptual framework to figure out the main vulnerability drivers in a place. It corresponds to the ways risks are produced (multi-layered vulnerability); to the implications of risks (as instruments that shape vulnerability); and to the ways different actors conceptualize risks (the framing of research object influences vulnerability).</text>
