Ses constructions modernistes, comme les villas La Roche et Savoye, enflamment les avant-gardes. Sa vision futuriste de l'habitat, individuel comme collectif, s'incarne dans de nombreuses réalisations: l'Unité d'habitation de Marseille, l'abbaye de Ronchamp ou encore le couvent de La Tourette... Théoricien de l'urbanisme et de l'architecture, Le Corbusier est sollicité dans le monde entier, jusqu'en Inde où il conçoit, à la fin de sa carrière, une ville entière : Chandigarh.<br />

Dans cet ouvrage richement illustré et nourri d'archives en partie inédites - dont la correspondance privée de l'architecte -, Weber brosse le portrait touchant d'un artiste irascible et dépressif, tendre et enthousiaste. Il décrit un homme étanche à toute forme d'engagement politique, prêt, pour obtenir des commandes, à faire le siège des puissants, qu'ils s'appellent Staline, Mussolini, Pétain ou De Gaulle...<br />

C'est aussi un Le Corbusier intime que l'on découvre. Le biographe révèle son rapport avec les femmes et, en premier lieu, avec sa mère, une Jurassienne revêche, dont il cherchera en vain l'approbation toute sa vie. C’est là que vit une grande partie de la population française. Une population qui souhaite disposer d’espaces naturels, d’un jardin, d’une maison et qui, en même temps, souhaite accéder à toutes les ressources qu’offre un centre : des emplois, des commerces, des aménités culturelles et éducatives. Mais la faible densité ne permet pas d’assurer une desserte satisfaisante en transports en commun et, pour se déplacer, il faut prendre sa voiture.</div>
<br />
Cela a un coût pour l’environnement bien entendu, mais aussi un coût social et culturel. Quand on n’a pas les moyens économiques ou physiques d’avoir une voiture ou que l’on ne peut passer le permis de conduire, il faut parfois renoncer à se déplacer et donc renoncer à un emploi, à une formation, à des soins. Sans moyen individuel de transport, la ville périurbaine devient impraticable et illisible. Il faut imaginer des organisations de la mobilité qui permettent à tous d’accéder à la diversité des pôles urbains. Elles ne peuvent pas être rigides mais doivent consister, au contraire, en une large palette de solutions combinant des réponses sociales, culturelles, techniques, paysagères, éducatives et une gouvernance ouverte à laquelle les citadins puissent être associés...</div>

la négociation du contrat de plan Etat-Région a été l'occasion de définir des objectifs pour le transport ferroviaire de passagers. En effet, celui-ci prévoit des investissements importants dans le système ferroviaire, avec en perspective des améliorations conséquentes touchant les infrastructures à l'horizon 2005/2006. Pour envisager ces évolutions, la présente étude a pour but l'analyse d'une série de problématiques régionales qui correspondent à des enjeux de la politique de transport de la Région, mais qui correspondent aussi à des questions et des choix en matière d'aménagement du territoire. La première étape du travail consiste, en l'absence de référentiel univoque pour les orientations de l'aménagement du Nord-Pas de Calais, à étudier un ensemble de contributions ayant pour objet l'analyse et la prospective du territoire régional, dans le but d'établir des scénarios d'aménagement du territoire. Ces scénarios composent des futurs possibles du territoire régional et synthétisent des stratégies spatiales envisageables par les acteurs de l'aménagement. La seconde étape consiste à confronter les scénarios élaborés aux orientations affichées en matière de politique d'aménagement et de politique des transports. A l'échelle du territoire régional, l'Etat et la Région politique représentent les deux acteurs majeurs dont nous analysons les actions et les projets. Dans un troisième temps nous élaborons une méthode d'évaluation du système de transport dans sa contribution à la réponse à des objectifs de l'aménagement du territoire. La méthode est ensuite mise en oeuvre sur une série de problématiques régionales qui envisagent la place et le rôle de la métropole lilloise dans le Nord-Pas de Calais, la mise en actions d'une stratégie de renforcement des solidarités régionales, et enfin l'émergence de sous espaces cohérents articulés dans une perspective Eurorégionale

Remercions ici Agnès Florin, professeur de psychologie de l’enfance à l’Université de Nantes, responsable du Réseau interdisciplinaire nantais "Qualité de vie / Bien-être" RINQ, qui a accepté que les Actes de la 2ème journée d’étude de ce réseau, laquelle s’est tenue à la Faculté de droit de Nantes le 16 mars 2011 soient publiés dans la présente revue, en accordant son soutien financier à l’impression de celle-ci. Cette journée avait pour thème : "Cadre de vie et stratégies urbaines : quelles conceptions du bien-être ?".</div>

La notion de "bien-être" a ainsi cheminé dans le temps et la pensée, en pénétrant la philosophie du droit, la matinée de cette journée étant consacrée à la thématique "La satisfaction du bien-être par l’offre de droits : entre prestations de base et optimum dans un cadre de vie urbain". Dans l’après-midi quelques regards croisés ont été livrés sur : "les lectures du bien-être à travers les outils de maîtrise de la croissance urbaine : quelles fonctions au service du bien-être ?". Se sont entrecroisées les analyses de spécialistes de différentes branches des sciences humaines et sociales, au cours d’une journée brassant les savoirs de chercheurs jeunes et confirmés.</div>

From its earliest days as a royal settlement fronting the pyramids of Giza to its current manifestation as the largest metropolis in Africa, Cairo has forever captured the urban pulse of the Middle East. In Cairo: Histories of a City, Nezar AlSayyad narrates the many Cairos that have existed throughout time, offering a panoramic view of the city’s history unmatched in temporal and geographic scope, through an in-depth examination of its architecture and urban form.<br />

In twelve vignettes, accompanied by drawings, photographs, and maps, AlSayyad details the shifts in Cairo’s built environment through stories of important figures who marked the cityscape with their personal ambitions and their political ideologies. The city is visually reconstructed and brought to life not only as a physical fabric but also as a social and political order—a city built within, upon, and over, resulting in a present-day richly layered urban environment. Each chapter attempts to capture a defining moment in the life trajectory of a city loved for all of its evocations and contradictions. The current research aims to elaborate the sensory configuration of a gated community named Al Rehab City in Cairo. This contemporary urban form, imported from the United States, is part of the last stage of modernizing the city. The methods used are based on analysing the sensory phenomena captured by several techniques in situ, such as participant observation, sound recordings, in addition to citizens’ speech in the form of “commented walks”. In the first phase of analysis, the research identifies the relevant sensory phenomena which are the result of a western urban concept inhabited by oriental society. In the second part we analyse the sensory structure of this urban model by revealing the way in which the body, hearing and sight traverse the various spatial borders which make up this form of habitat.
Cet article esquisse la configuration sensible d’une gated community - la ville d’Al-Réhab City au Caire - forme urbaine contemporaine importée des États-Unis. L’approche adoptée par cette étude propose une analyse des phénomènes in situ à partir des techniques d’observation, d’enregistrements sonores et du recueil de la « parole habitante » sous la forme de « parcours commentés ». Pour définir l’ambiance de cette ville, deux phases d’analyses ont été mises en œuvre. La première vise à identifier les phénomènes sensibles pertinents qui sont le produit d’un concept occidental habité par une société orientale. Dans la deuxième phase, l’article traite de la configuration sensible de cette ambiance en révélant la manière dont le corps, le son et la vue franchissent les frontières spatiales qui composent cette forme d’habitat.

Lacunary perceptions, biased and partial, often anecdotal, and subject to an impression of anarchy, disorder and gigantism, commonly confer a comfortable illegitimacy on attempts to interpret a metropolis like Cairo. Our aim here is to show that these stereotypes of Cairo will not bear analysis. The city's contemporary evolution may be divided into phases corresponding to the global time of very large metropolises. Functional, political, demographic and social transformations reshape its ecology, both its forms and the ways of acting and living in it.

<div><b>Abstract from the publisher : </b></div> </div> "The challenges of an increasingly poor urban population, as well as the mushrooming of illegal or semi-legal settlements and slums, have been acknowledged by both local authorities and international development agencies. The insecurity of tenure, the poor housing conditions, the insufficient supply of basic public services such as water, sewage, streets, electricity, schools, and health centers, as well as the need for political and social inclusion, have been the focus of discussions at international conferences. The response to these challenges has been articulated by an international consensus of comprehensive approaches for improving the living conditions in informal areas, raising the quality of life in poor and deteriorated districts, creating circumstances for long-term poverty alleviation, and guaranteeing legal and secure tenure. A commitment to the Millennium Development Goals by the member countries of the United Nations is assured by their having put these strategies on their national agendas. In Egypt, GTZ supports governmental authorities of various levels in performing their tasks by adopting a variety of conceptual approaches, such as participatory strategies for upgrading informal areas and capacity development. GTZ also strengthens private sector and civil society organizations in recognizing and exercising their responsibility within the urban community and their roles in resolving existing problems. En este articulo se propone la posibilidad de reconstruir, en cuanto a la evolucion de la prosa romance, un tipo de procesos en los que la determinacion nominal es fuente de cambios en la arquitectura transfrastica de la prosa. Se trata de cambios que no solo se extienden al conjunto de la prosa española, sino que presentan una convergencia romance y una regularidad cronologica digna de atencion.

A partir de este ejemplo, se trata de sugerir algunas pistas de reflexión sobre el análisis de las desigualdades de acceso a los recursos urbanos, desde un enfoque a la vez global y biográfico de las movilidades. Una primera sección está dedicada a presentar el corpus de datos, en particular la metodología de recolección de información sobre las movilidades aplicada en 2009. En las dos secciones siguientes el énfasis se coloca en las desigualdades de acceso a la ciudad y su evolución reciente, en el contexto del cambio urbano que enfrenta el sector estudiado. Abordamos sucesivamente dos dimensiones de este cambio : las mutaciones de la oferta de vivienda y la reestructuración de la oferta de transporte con la implementación de Transmilenio. Para cada una, nos preguntamos cómo los residentes de la zona se apropian y utilizan estas nuevas ofertas y cuáles son sus efectos en sus prácticas efectivas de movilidad cotidiana. Varias pistas de interpretación son exploradas mas precisamente, para evidenciar las diferencias de comportamiento frente a los cambios que impactan estos barrios: las articulaciones entre elecciones residenciales y movilidades cotidianas; las configuraciones residenciales de las familias y las movilidades que generan; los arbitrajes entre los miembros del hogar; las competencias de movilidad adquiridas a lo largo de la vida; la percepción de los cambios y la adaptación de las practicas en los antiguos residentes de estos barrios.
