L'auteur propose un tableau rétrospectif des grands mouvements migratoires postérieurs à la seconde guerre mondiale et dont l'Europe industrielle fut le théâtre. Déplacements de réfugiés, migrations économiques dues à la reconstruction des économies européennes ont marqué les décennies 1950-1960. Toutefois la crise économique consécutive au premier choc pétrolier a modifié sensiblement les conditions de réalisation des migrations internationales dirigées vers les pays européens ; avec elles ont été transformés les profils et les problèmes de cette population d'immigrés.

Twenty-five years of immigration to European industrial countries.
The author draws a retrospective picture of the major migratory movements in industrial Europe since the second world war. Movements of refugees and economic migrations due to the rebuilding of the European economies have marked the fifties and the sixties. However, the economic slump following upon the first oil crisis has somewhat changed the conditions of international migration towards European countries. With this change of conditions, the characteristics and the problems of this immigrant population have been transformed.
