Description
Situated at the limits of familial and societal space, the habitat is a determining place in the cultural adaptation process which an immigrant must go through in his host country. Observation of families from Morocco living in the Bellevue ZUP (area designated for development) in Nantes has shown that domestic and urban habits are dependent on reclaiming objects, people, and places which are links between one's former ethnic community and the prescrit, national community. The idea of a patriarchal household is only relevant to parents, as their children are concerned with mastering their hybrid fate.
