Description
The theme of urban atmospheres allows the constitution of a "sensible gaze" in migration studies. In the cities are developed new forms of atmosphere sharings. Migrant populations seem to play an important role in that process and suggest other modalities of sensorial perceiving of the urban space. The ethnic neighbourhoods became indeed the key for an "atmospherized diversity" which transforms the urban landscape. In this PHD research on Tamil population in Île-de-France, I question the role of sensorial cultures of the individuals within their lifes in the city, as well as the intimate dimension of immigration, atmospheres allowing to deal with the comings and goings between what is possible or desirable to share and what is not.
