De l’espace usinier aux nouveaux territoires urbains

Quelles sont les interactions entre traces industrielles, groupes sociaux, et projets urbains, dans le cadre de processus de reconversion de friches industrielles et portuaires ? Comment discours, dispositifs, et images mis en œuvre parviennent-ils à projeter un futur possible pour pallier l’absence de ce qui a souvent contribué à structurer l’espace social et urbain ? Trois thèmes seront ici développés : la notion de trace urbaine articulée aux mémoires collectives ; l’usage du « grand architecte » par les maîtres d’ouvrage puis les relations entre projet urbain, situations construites et appropriation sociale des espaces à travers l’exemple du réaménagement récent de l’ancien site SMN.

How do industrial legacies, social groups and urban projects interact in the process of reconversion of industrial and port wasteland? How can speeches, images, and other kinds of devices combine to create a future which will make up for the disappearance of what has often helped to give structure to social and urban spaces? Three themes will be developed here: the notion of urban legacy linked to collective memories; the use of “the great architect” by the project manager; the relationships between urban projects and the social appropriation of spaces through the example of the recent redevelopment of the old SMN site.
