Description
The populations of oversea departments and territories in metropolitan France.
Immigration from the oversea departments and territories of metropolitan France has grown continuously for nearly 30 years. Most of those immigrants come from three departments : Martinique, Guadeloupe, Reunion. The economic motives being the main reasons of leaving, most immigrants in metropolitan France are young and eco- nomicly active. Most of them are also women. These two characteristics favour the development of family life and lead to the establishment of a fixed community in metropolitan France. The more rapid growth of this population is the sign of the fast transformation of this work immigration into a settlement immigration.
