Description
Urban contexts: socio- demographic structures and standard of living.
The patterns of behaviour of most households can be explained by a given household's position in the life cycle as well as its socio-economic status. Currently, the proxies for these two factors are, on the one hand, the household structure and the age of its head, and, on the other hand, variables such as global income for the whole family as well as the socio- occupational category and level of education of its head. However, this leaves unanswered the question of the link between these two factors and a third one, the household's place of residence. This question may be answered if the traditional critérium «size of agglomeration» is associated with another critérium which distinguishes between the ' centres, the suburbs and exurbia.
