Description
Both in Istanbul and Venise religious minorities (Jews in Venise, Christians and Jews in Istanbul) have been submitted to clothing regulations. Their presence in the city had to obey drastic regulations. People used to live inside regiously homogenous quarters. This article tries to elucidate whether a religiously homogenous district in Istanbul, the "mahalle" is a ghetto?
