La mutation rapide de nos rapports aux espaces, aux temps et aux mobilités et la disjonction de plus en plus importante entre l’Urbs et la Civitas, nous obligent à un changement d’approche radical. Le géographe réinterroge nos pratiques et usages spatio-temporels de la ville et revisite le système urbain à partir de la figure de « la ville malléable ». Il définit encore un nouvel urbanisme, de nouvelles règles d’usage et une nouvelle ergonomie des temps et des espaces collectifs. Enfin, il dessine de nouvelles cartes d’identité urbaines « présentielles », transformant au passage l’usager en « citoyen éphémère » et le voyageur en « mobilien ». Ici et maintenant.

Fast-moving changes in the way in which we relate to space, time and modes of transport, coupled with an ever-widening gap between cities and their communities, is forcing researchers, authorities and citizens to adopt radically new approaches. The geographer re-examines the spatiotemporal relationship with a city in order to suggest ways in which the urban fabric may be improved, based on the concept of the “flexible city”. He goes on to explore a new kind of town planning, new usage rules and more ergonomic spatiotemporal planning. Finally, he looks at new “on-site” urban identity cards that are transforming the user into a “temporary citizen” and giving the traveller better “mobility”. Here and now.
